So, I came to the end of my slightly shorter second week with Bayman, Topping and Smythe and am naturally feeling more settled, as anyone would that has started a new role as you begin to get ‘bedded in’. Once you get a solid grasp of the basics I think that it is just human nature the more you become involved and the more knowledge you acquire, unsurprisingly, you feel more established within your role. I genuinely think I would feel the same had I started under slightly more normal circumstances and had not been remotely on-boarded.
I think one thing I must acknowledge is the fact that things are so extraordinary at the moment, I feel incredibly lucky that I have been able to work remotely. Many of my close friends are still having to go to a workplace or work for a company that remote working isn’t a possibility and I feel it is such a positive that I have been able to start my new role and to a certain extent try and take a ‘business as usual’ approach.
I have recognised a real sense of community within the world of Senior Finance recruitment and I can honestly say it has been a pleasure speaking to candidates and clients alike, that are keeping very upbeat and there is definitely a joint sense of positivity. It is a difficult time for everyone, but I am certainly being kept optimistic and encouraged by all around me for the future and I can only hope that continues over the coming weeks – I will of course keep you posted!
On that note, hope you all had a lovely Easter break and please all stay safe.
