Head of Indirect Tax – UK wide - Salary paying up to £115,000 + Bonus +  Benefits with Hybrid working

Our client is a rapidly growing service provider, with offices nationwide. We are now seeking a talented individual to join their business as Head of Indirect Tax. This is a unique project based role, and will be responsible for managing and shaping how the indirect tax compliance is processed and managing any ad-hoc projects relating to indirect tax. Whilst the company has its head office in the North West the chosen incumbent can work from one of the many offices it has in its network. 

Responsibilities :

  • Ensuring technical accuracy of worldwide indirect tax filings, including those completed by the outsource provider.
  • Support and advise tax compliance team on indirect tax treatment of transactions.
  • Subject matter expert on indirect tax matters – resolve queries from finance and business.
  • Responsibility for product matrix – ensure all sales are assigned correct VAT codes.
  • Work alongside a VAT Project Manager on VAT changes, process and technology improvements.
  • Identify indirect tax changes impacting the business, advising and supporting on all necessary business changes as a consequence.
  • Support with regular indirect tax training to the team and wider functions.
  • Support on all indirect tax enquiries from tax authorities.
  • Provide insight into indirect taxes across the group and drive opportunities to improve cash/value.
  • Assist the Director of Tax in project work as required. Typical projects could involve determining the correct VAT treatment of restructures, new product and service lines.
  • Support on M&A activity from an indirect perspective, including due diligence, structuring, and transitioning new business acquisitions.

Ideally you will be CTA qualified, or a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with proven indirect tax experience, gained from practice or another in-house VAT role. Exposure to European VAT would be an advantage, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team.
