Paying up to £400 per day - Based in Merseyside, our client, one of the largest education providers in the Northwest of England, is seeking an experienced Procurement Specialist. This is an interim position designed to lead and complete a specific procurement act compliance project.

This is a part time interim job opportunity that can be fully office based, or hybrid with both office and home working. The successful post holder will be expected to work 2 to 3 days each week throughout the 3 months + period to complete the required tasks. The job will commence at the beginning of November.

THE ROLE

As Interim Procurement Specialist your key responsibility will be to ensure, through various activities, that the organisation is ready for the requirements of the new Procurement Act when it comes into force in February 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and reviewing procurement strategy, policies, and procedures to align with the upcoming Procurement Act requirements
  • Reviewing current procurement systems and procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes to ensure efficiency and compliance
  • Ensuring full compliance with legislative standards and appropriate procurement guidance
  • Conducting a thorough audit of current supplier contracts and processes, ensuring they meet the standards set by the new regulations
  • Providing expert advice and training to internal teams on upcoming legislative changes and ensuring best procurement practices are adopted
  • Monitoring progress and updating key stakeholders on the organisation’s readiness for the new Procurement Act
  • Collaborating closely with internal teams to develop an action plan for any identified gaps in compliance.

THE PERSON

  • MCIPS qualified
  • Extensive practical experience working within public procurement procedures, specifically Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and accessing consortia frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of UK procurement contract laws
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a forward-thinking approach
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently integrate with the wider business
  • Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks effectively
  • Professional, personable, with a pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise projects and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
