Paying up to £30k our client is recruiting for a Property Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis. The role offers 27 days' holiday, a contributory pension and a discretionary bonus. This role is fully office-based (5 days a week), within Manchester City Centre and would suit someone dynamic and motivated to join a new team. The role will offer study support if required. 

The Role

This is a client-side role, you will be responsible for assisting our Property Accountant and wider property management team with accounts payable, credit control and other property accounting matters for an expanding portfolio of commercial assets with approximately 150 tenancies. This will include undertaking the regular payment of supplier invoices and correct coding, proactive pursuit of tenant payments for rent, service charge, insurance and utilities and assisting with reporting on property finance matters.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the timely processing, coding, and payment of all invoices for the managed portfolio using our property management software on a week-to-week basis
  • Undertake portfolio credit control/accounts receivable tasks
  • Manage the collection of rent, service charge, insurance, utilities, and other charges over the monthly and quarterly cycles
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting, legal and RICS regulations
  • Resolving problems in relation to invoice payments
  • Reconciling tenant accounts
  • Making recommendations on debt enforcement measures and ways of improving collection performance
  • Conducting credit checks on incoming tenants and highlighting potential trends/problems with existing occupiers
  • Suggesting improvements and changes to processes
  • Assisting property and facilities managers with finance-based matters relating to the managed portfolio
  • Reporting on collection rates and adhering to internal deadlines

The Person

Previous experience working within a finance department within Housing or Property would be preferred but is not essential. Someone who has good excel skills and who is organised with good attention to detail is also required.  You must have exceptional numerical and analytical skills and effective communication skills. You will have good written skills and the ability to maintain and build strong business relationships with occupiers. You will have the ability to problem solve and be an organised collaborator with a 'can-do' approach. You must be commuteable to Manchester City Centre five days a week for this position.
