VAT and Compliance Accountant – Cheshire - Salary paying up to £50,000 + bonus and a vast range of benefits (including mix of home/office working)
Based in Cheshire, our client is a rapidly growing Service Provider, who is seeking an individual to join their business as a VAT and Compliance Accountant.
THE JOB:
Working in the Financial Accounting and Control team this is a newly created role that will take a lead on delivering the VAT returns whilst improving current processes.
Main Responsibilities:
Provide vital support in the preparation of tax and other compliance returns for all our global entities in a timely and accurate manner.
Typical work activities include:
- Provide technical and VAT accounting advice to departments across the Group
- Provide technical advice regarding queries and how Tax legislation might apply
- Provide VAT advice around projects
- Review existing processes with a view of identifying improvements
- Prepare and submit certain compliance returns such as intrastat returns, RDCO returns, P11D submissions and PSA returns.
- Ensure that VAT relief is applied where applicable and identifying where tax relief is appropriate with suppliers
- Prepare VAT returns and work alongside our external tax advisors to ensure accuracy with our annual corporation tax returns in various territories as well as ensuring any requirements for payment on accounts during the year are met at the appropriate deadline.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations providing a robust control and governance framework surrounding tax and compliance
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate will qualified CTA/ACA or ACCA but possess strong VAT knowledge. All backgrounds will be considered, whether from an in-house, HMRC or practice function. Experience of operating in multiple European jurisdictions would be desirable, but not essential. Advanced Excel skills are required and having previously worked within a fast-paced environment would also be advantageous. Sage knowledge or experience of a similar accounting system would be beneficial.
